Weddings, Anniversaries, and Birthdays....Oh My!

It's been a while since we've checked in here, and we have so much to update you on. AMDA is in full effect for 2011! We've been booking up like crazy and our year officially starts this weekend with our "Lucky in Love" couple Jackie & George for their poker-themed wedding at Floral Terrace. Following that, we move on to sleek, chic and modern, with Erica and Joe at Tribeca Rooftop in Manhattan.

We're especially excited for a special client in July. Our friends Jeanne and Skip from Afresh Approach have contracted us to take care of their son and future-daughter-in-law's big day!

We'll be introducing ourselves to several venues for the first time, such as the Tappan Hill Mansion, DeSeversky Center, Land's End, and Timber Point Country Club. But we also can't wait to go back to some old favorites like the Crest Hollow Country Club, the Riviera, the Swan Club, Shauna's favorite Jericho Terrace, and of course, Laura's favorite, the North Ritz Club. 

In the meantime, we're helping to plan a surprise 35th anniversary party, as well as a surprise 30th birthday party, both with the help of one of our favorite bakeries, Marneycakes! Finally, we'll also be participating in LIWedding.com's annual Bridal Extravaganza on April 4th!

We knew 2011 would bring big things to AMDA, we just didn't realize just how big they were!

Since we've started this blog, we've been telling you all about the weddings and events we've been working, as well as our special promotions. But we've never actually explained what the ladies at A Modern Day Affair DO for you. We figured it's about time to do just that......

We are constantly meeting brides and grooms who ask us this very question: "Why do we need you? Can't we just do it ourselves?" The answer: Of course you can. But do you want to?

We here at A Modern Day Affair believe your day should be just that – Your Day. More often than not, it seems the host or hostess of an event is the person who gets to enjoy it the least. You put all of your time and effort into planning and when the day comes, you’re so caught up in the details that you don’t even get to enjoy it like you could. A Modern Day Affair prevents exactly that. Our purpose is to ensure that every detail of your event is executed as planned, so you can enjoy it as much as your guests.

From the moment you join the A Modern Day Affair team, we treat your affair as if it were one of our own.  Whether you need someone to help you coordinate your affair from start to finish, or you just need that extra eye for the day of, A Modern Day Affair is here to help. We offer complete and partial planning services for all types of events, large and small. We will work with you in the days leading up to your event to go over your vendor contracts and details as well as any special requests you may have. We coordinate with your vendors in advance to assure that the day runs smoothly. On the day of your affair, did you forget something at home? No worries, we’ll run back and get it for you. Are your vendors running late? We’re on it. Did someone spill wine on your new dress? We’ll get it out. Our goal at A Modern Day Affair is to allow our customers to feel like a guest at their own event. We do the work so you don’t have to.

As Thanksgiving Approaches

We would like to take the opportunity to thank all of our wonderful couples this past year. You are the reason we continue to grow. A Modern Day Affair is something that three girls dreamed could come true and you are all the reason it has. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Thank you for your never ending love and support of us over this past year. We are incredibly lucky to have had you all by our side during our very first year of business.

Now for some Downtime

After a very hectic October, we now get to relax for a little while and work on building up our business.  We finished the month off with a bang though, with back to back Halloween weekend weddings.  Saturday 10/30 was devoted to Rebecca and Stephen, and their Venetian Yacht Club wedding.  It was a wonderful day and they were such a fantastic couple to work with. Their wedding was definitely memorable, especially seeing Stephen do his grand re-entrance dressed as Elvis!

Sunday was Selena and Jin's traditional Korean wedding at the Crest Hollow Country Club.  We obtained a wealth of information about Korean culture and traditions and couldn't be happier.  Selena was beautiful in her Maggie Sottero gown, but wasn't stopping there.  Midway through the evening she changed into a gorgeous and traditional Korean Hanbok.  Selena and Jin thought everything through from the escort cards to the placement of the money box.  It was certainly an invaluable experience for us!
